Local Sprouts Cooperative, Maine’s only worker-owned cafe and caterer is looking for a Full-Time Catering Chef Coordinator.

To start immediately Job Description: To assist the Catering Coordinator with the execution of all styles and sizes of catering orders throughout the year. Primary duties to include weekly creation of prep lists and schedules and supervision of prep cooks, collaborating closely with the Catering Coordinator to ensure all menus are executed to the customers’ specifications, and collaborating with the Purchasing Coordinator to ensure all ingredients are procured economically and in a timely manner. Hours will vary throughout the year from longer hours in summer to shorter weeks in winter, but we remain busy year-round. Qualifications: -Working knowledge of seasonal Maine foods, enthusiasm and strong desire to engage with local vendors and farms -Must have proficient/excellent kitchen and foodsafety skills, ServSafe certification preferred -Must be detail-oriented and have some familiarity with preparation and presentation for everything from small lunch meetings to big plated weddings -Ability to ensure the cost of food remains within budget guidelines -Excellent communication skills required to supervise, mentor and motivate fellow workers and to collaborate with the Catering Coordinator, Purchasing Coordinator, and Back of House Coordinator -Ability to work as a Head Chef on some big events throughout the season -Room for growth in menu development and event coordination -Interest in cooperative ownership and participating in the future growth of Local Sprouts Catering

-20-40 hrs/wk depending on season.

All regular workers at Local Sprouts Cooperative become worker-owners of our cooperative. If you apply, you should want to become an owner of Local Sprouts and be prepared to put extra energy and commitment into your work. All worker-owners are expected to invest time and money, and participate in at least one committee. We have monthly worker-owner meetings where all worker-owners come together to discuss proposals and make decisions together. If we have surplus revenue at the end of the year, all worker-owners share our profits. Together we are building a work space that is fighting social oppression in a non-hierarchical environment.
